Meaningful TIPS

DRESSING RIGHT: KNOW HOW TO COMBINE COLORS CORRECTLY

The last time we talked about dressing, the focus was on male dressing. The tips today will serve both genders.

Here's the background knowledge you need.

The color wheel was developed by Sir Isaac Newton in 1666. It's based on his research on color theory. And its use for us is that it helps us in identifying colors that complement one another and the ones that cause disharmony.

The rules are not hard to remember, though you might need to take the chart with you on your phone like I do.

Here are the basic rules:
1. You can wear colors that are directly next to each other. For example, a Blue-Green shirt on a Dark Blue trouser.
2. You can wear colors that are directly opposite one each other. For example, an Orange shirt on a Dark Blue trouser.
3. You can wear colors that are 2 colors apart  (or 90 degrees apart). For example, you can wear a Yellow-Green shirt on a Dark Blue trouser.
4. You can wear colors that form a T. This is more applicable to ladies; guys hardly wear more than 2 pieces of cloth. An example is blue, orange, and violet-red.
5. You can wear colors that form an X. Also for ladies. Example is blue, orange, violet-red, and yellow.
6. You can wear Black, Brown, Grey and White with any other color. They are called Neutrals. But avoid wearing black on black, brown on brown, grey on grey and white on white, except there's a special reason.
7. It's preferable to have one color dark and the others light/regular, rather than having all colors dark or light/regular. It's better to wear bright red on dark green rather than wearing bright red on bright green.
8. For patterned shirts, note the dominant color and match appropriately. Avoid wearing a patterned shirt over a patterned trouser. And if you're wearing more than 2 pieces of cloth, it's best to let only one be patterned. Solid color shirt on a solid color trouser with a patterned blazer on.

Finally, there's one last rule: Always wear confidence

Meaningful TIPS

GET PRODUCTIVE

I suspect some of the following TIPS may not be strange, but a reminder will not do much harm:

1.      Get up at 5 am. Win the battle of the bed. Put mind over mattress. This habit alone will strengthen your willpower so it serves you more dutifully in the key areas of your life

2.      Stop waiting for perfect conditions to launch a great project. Immediate action fuels a positive feedback loop that drives even more action

3.      Use your commute time. Listen to fantastic books on audio + excellent podcasts and valuable learning programs

4.      Don’t say yes to every request. Most of us have a deep need to be liked. That translates into us saying yes to everything – which is the end of your elite productivity

5.      Work in 90 minute blocks with 10 minute intervals to recover and refuel

6.      Outsource everything you can’t be BIW (Best in the World) at. Focus only on activities within what I call “Your Picasso Zone”

7.      Sell your TV. You’re just watching other people get successful versus doing the things that will get you to your dreams

8.      Write a Stop Doing List. Every productive person obsessively sets To Do Lists. But those who play at world-class also record what they commit to stop doing

9.      Work in 90 minute blocks with 10 minute intervals to recover and refuel

10.  Get lost!!!........... I mean don’t be so available to everyone. Occasionally, you will need solitary moments

27 Unspoken Suit Rules Every Man Should Know
1. The width of the tie should match the width of the lapel.
2. In general, thin lapels are more modern. Wide lapels are more old-school.
3. A pocket square adds an extra level of polish, but make sure it doesn’t match your tie in either pattern or fabric choice.
4. When buying an off-the-rack suit, the number one thing to check is how the shoulders fit.
5. A collar gap between your jacket’s lapels and your shirt’s collar can signify an ill-fitting jacket.
6. Opt for a charcoal or gray suit over black, unless you’re attending a funeral.
7. Your belt should be fairly thin and the same color as your shoes.
8. You should match your shoes to the color of your suit
9. Double vents in the back are more modern and fashionable.
10. For a more casual, trendy look, opt for a single-button peak-lapel jacket.
11. If you’re going for more formal business attire, opt for a double-button, notched lapel jacket.
12. The Savile Row Fold keeps your dress pants from falling off the hanger.
13. You should be able to slip your hand between your chest and your buttoned jacket such that it feels snug, but with room to move.
14. Always unbutton your suit before sitting down, or you risk ruining it.
15. The top button of a two-button (or the middle button of a three-button) should fall at or above the navel.
16. Always go with the classic windsor knot for your tie, but use the size of your head to determine whether you should go half or full windsor.
18. There are practical reasons for vests beyond just how they look.
19. Sleeve cuffs should be exposed about half an inch.
20. When you get your suit home, you’ll need a seam ripper or a small, sharp pair of scissors.
21. Make sure that your socks are long enough that there’s no exposed leg when sitting down.
25. For a more fashion-forward look, the pant hem should hit right at the top of your shoe.
26. If you sweat a lot, wear an undershirt.
27. Finally, go for the dimple.

LIMITLESS POSSIBILITIES

“Impossible is just a big word thrown around by small people who find it easier to live in the world they’ve been given than to explore the power they have to change it. Impossible is not a fact. It’s an opinion. Impossible is not a declaration. It’s a dare. Impossible is potential. Impossible is temporary. Impossible is nothing.” – Muhammad Ali

Have the attitude that there are no limits on what you can accomplish, because the only limits you have are ones that you impose on yourself.

Nothing is impossible for those that live without limits.
